The Porsche Taycan stands as a testament to the brand's innovation in electric luxury sports sedans and shooting brake cars. Introduced by German automaker Porsche, its concept version, dubbed the Porsche Mission E, made its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Later, the production Taycan was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, marking Porsche's foray into series production electric vehicles.

Available in various performance levels, the Taycan represents Porsche's commitment to electrification and may inspire future models and derivatives. In its debut year of sales in 2020, over 20,000 Taycans were delivered, constituting 7.4% of Porsche's total volume.

The name "Taycan" pays homage to the steed depicted on the coat of arms of Stuttgart, which appears on the Porsche crest. In Turkish, "tay" translates to colt or young horse, while "can" conveys liveliness. Notably, the "Turbo" designation in higher trims is used for branding purposes, as these electric vehicles do not utilize turbochargers.

Blending Porsche's renowned driving dynamics with electric efficiency, the Taycan incorporates a two-speed transmission for optimal performance and range, capable of exceeding 321 kilometers (199 miles) depending on the model and driving conditions.
